Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum
By Team WissensSpuren and DBFZ
The Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum (DBFZ) explores how the available and limited resources of biomass can be used with maximal sustainability and efficiency to our energy systems. To this end the insitute identifies, develops, supports, evaluates, and demonstrates the most promising fields of application of bio-energy. Thus, its work extends our knowledge about the opportunities and limitations of the energetic and physical use of renewable raw materials, and it permanently secures the leading role of German industry in this sector.
Education and Research
In predominantly applied research, numerous processes and technologies relating to the bioeconomy and bioenergy are researched in the DBFZ’s technical centre and put into practice for a successful energy transition and a bio-based economy. In addition, DBFZ scientists are involved in the topic as experts on numerous committees, boards and advisory councils as well as through various visiting professorships at renowned universities in Germany and abroad. A wide range of doctoral students also work at the DBFZ in theory and practice. The annual Doctoral Colloquium BIOENERGY AND BIOBASED PRODUCTS, initiated by the DBFZ, gives young scientists the opportunity to present their research topics to a wider public and to establish important scientific contacts within the scientific community.
Outreach
DBFZ research topics are communicated to various target groups through a variety of scientific and popular science events, publication series, handbooks, guidelines, lectures and much more. The aim is to publicise the extensive work and research results of the DBFZ and to further develop processes and methods together with partners from industry and research and put them into practice.
