09 August 2025. Time and again deals were made by prominent political figures in the 20th century. The Big Four, Clemenceau, Lloyd George, Orlando, and Wilson, took the major decisions during the Paris Peace Conference (1919–1920). The Big Three, Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin, were the leaders of the main powers of the allies in the second world war, and in the negotiations of the post-war order. Arguably the present presidents of Russia and the US see themselves in this tradition of powerful decision makers. However, throughout the 20th century there were also other forms of making deals. Wilson was awarded the 1919 Nobel Peace Prize for his role as founder of the League of Nations. Roosevelt implemented the New Deal to fight the aftermath of the world economic crisis, and to promote a stable democratic society. In our tour we explore the impacts of major political deals on the life in the Leipzig, and we discuss which type of deals are worth striving for.
