Forum of Contemporary History Leipzig

The Forum of Contemporary History Leipzig is a venue of political and historical education, and one of the four museums of the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland Foundation. The permanent exhibition, “Our History. Dictatorship and Democracy after 1945” takes visitors on a journey through history – from the years following the Second World War to life in former East Germany and today’s Federal Republic of Germany. Furthermore, the forum presents special exhibitions on topics of relevance to the German civil society.

Outreach

The forum offers a thriving cultural program with film exhibitions, talks, round-table discussions, and conferences.

This program of events provides a platform for public debates with contemporary witnesses, as well as prominent representatives of politics, science, culture, and media. Numerous round-table discussions, lectures, readings, and film exhibitions foster the public discourse, and up to three special exhibitions annually highlight hot topics of political debate.
