On the 20th of June the Long Night of the Sciences Leipzig will take place. On this occasion we will explore the historical, cultural, and political dimensions of remembrance of scientists and the canonization of their work. The evening starts at 6 pm with an introductory talk at the Museum of Books and Writing. Subsequently, we walk throught the Linnéstraße and the Liebigstraße into the city center. On the way we visit research institutes and collections, and discuss the achievements of some well-known and less-known researchers. Against this backdrop we exchange views about
- whose research results are taken up?
- which scientists are remembered for their achievements?
- which mechanisms play a role in this selection?
The tour will be conducted in German. Some basic translations to English can be offered by our staff members.
