The School Museum is currently hosting a special exhibition entitled “Freiräume für Bildung – Schule und Architektur im Dialog” (“open spaces for education – schools and architecture in dialogue”). On the 31st of January the curators of the exhibition, Prof Dr Jonas Flöter, the Professor for General Educational Science at Leipzig University, and Dr. Jörn-Michael Goll, the Director of the School Museum, gave us a tour of the exhibition. It was fantastic to see how many schools in Leipzig are excelling with new ideas for the design of buildings and the everyday learning environment of students and teaching staff.

This was followed by a short tour through the city, where we reflected on how Leipzig has also made significant contributions to improving education and educational innovation in the past.
The tour concluded with a visit to the RealLabor Friedliche Bildungsrevolution. In this Living Lab Ute Puder and Margret Rasfeld informed us about the wide variety of groups and activities that are initiating change to provide an appreciative education for a confident, resilient, and open-minded youth.
